When starting computer I get message "checking file system on disc C"

Our computer crashed 1 month ago, per Dell everything had to be reinstalled.  Since they I get this message when turning computer on, not every day but twice a week.  Checking file system on Disc C, the type of file system is NTFS, one of your discs needs to be checked for consistency......................goes thru a bunch of stuff, all checked out fine and says to restart computer.  Then I can proceed.  Is this something to be concerned about???? In the 5 years with Windows XP, Dell Dimension 4300 never had this message.  But I will say things are not like they were before our system crashed.  Any advice greatly appreciate it.

Could be your hard drive is failing. Run CHKDSK  /R and reboot to allow it to run and correct any errors.

You may also want to download the disk utility for your particular HDD from the manufacturer's website and run it. Often times they are more accurate at finding issues that Windows' built in utility does not. You can also right click My Computer and go to Manage. Open the Event Viewer and check for error messages related to your HDD.
