I've had Window Washer for about two years now, using version 5.5 today, and have had no problems with washing the page file. I have also checked all the boxes at one time and again no problems. Your page file stores information and to reduce the risk presented, window washer will clean it out. Go to Google.com and type in Page file, and you will see a list of sites that will explain the page file system and why it is good to clean it out. If you do the Bleach options, your wash time will increase but I have had only positive results from using the program. In fact, the program even cleans out spyware from my system and the other spyware programs like spybot or ad-aware are not even needed, though I still have them. Try the program out, it has not hurt my system for two years. Good luck

Thanks for the input. XP certainly has some options which are not common knowledge. Funny thing, your link gave me information concerning my original query, which was "Is clearing the Paging file a good idea?" Your article gave me just exactly what I needed to know. I know third party software isoften not needed, but I got WindowmWasher as a gift and it's very easy to use. Thank you for your response.
