Windows 7 Sound Problem

I will summarize and then presumptively anticipate the thousands of questions that people may throw at me that don't really help me, or you (wasting your time posting questions that a dult would even know/try like "did you test to make sure your speakers work (from a helpful Dell tech analyst)"  No I didn't and I don't bathe with soap either!!!).

Anyway - Summary.

XPS 630i upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 32-bit.  Everything worked fine and I've seen enough on the forums that it's a device driver related issue.  I've tried everything, reinstalled old drivers, used Vista drivers, burned incense, even spent $100 bucks on useless Dell premium support to let the "analyst" (and I use that term loosely) citrix in to my system and push a bunch of buttons for an hour until he finally said he needed to "check some things" and he would call me back in ten minutes.  that was 13 hours ago - do you think he's calling back? 

In device driver, the drivers for Realtek seem to be installed and working.  There is an issue with an unknown PCI that I can't seem to resolve.  I presume that's the issue?

I downloaded the latest drivers that both Windows Update and Dell indicated I needed including refreshing the system BIOS.

I'm not unplugging my sound card (come on, the thing worked yesterday morning just fine with XP), so please don't suggest that.  Seriously, if you really don't have a clue, I'd prefer for you not to waste your time guessing.  If you've seen this, or know of a post that solves this, please point me in that direction.  I'm seriously thinking about stalking Michael Dell and Bill Gates and tieing them up with the XPS as an anchor and throwing them into the abyss called "tech support."

Update:  I can plug into the jacks into my sound card my old speaker system (harman kardon) and everything works fine....bose system (which was being used with my XPS and XP) doesn't work?  What's going on with the one port on the sound card?
