Windows Basic Serial on computer tower but Windows Home premium CD
Hi ,
I have a Dell Inspiron 660s . My hard disk crashed and dell support suggested i install a new hard disk . After installing the new hard disk i tried installing the windows OS .When i tried to put the serial key , it said it was invalid . When i tried contacting Windows for help , they said since the windows is an OEM version i have to talk to the dell people . Needed help in understanding what needs to be done in order to fix the issue . The sticker on the desktop tower says Home Basic while the cd provided by dell is home premium.
Thanks for the help
Regards

Download Windows 10 TH2 installation and clean install. TH2 installation media will accept your OEM product key:

You shouldn't have a problem installing the Windows 7 Home Premium on your PC using the Dell OEM CD. They probably ran out of Home Basic.
Remember that after installing the OS yu will need to install the drivers in proper order.

I would suggest downloading the drivers ahead of time so that you have them when you need them.
Good luck.
