Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry...

Hi, I'm seeking help...

Everytime I try to access the windows explorer I get the following error message:
"Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working might be lost.

Please tell Microsoft about the problem.
We have created an error report that you can send to help us improve Windows Explorer. We will treat this report as confidential and anonymous."

On the error report the following information is stated:

Error signature:
AppName: explorer.exe
AppVer: 6.02900.2180
ModName: atl.dll
ModVer: 3.5.2284.0
Offset: 00002e26

Could you please tell me how I can repair this problem or what might be causing it?

Thanks,
Greatly appreciated!

I've tried uninstalling anything to do with Kodak software....but it's still not working.
Thanks for the suggestion!

Try uninstalling(Kodak), rebooting and running System File Checker; atl.dll may be corrupt/missing.

For what it is worth, I have received that same message several times over the past few years.  In no case did I do anything to attempt a remedy but within a few days the problem disappeared. Most recently the message came up while I was trying to use my software (Speedy CD) for burning CDs and DVDs.

The tone of the message seems to be that Microsoft wants to know about the problem and it would seem they affect a correcting solution.
