Windows Update error code 80072EFE
Currently running Vista and over the last week I cannot get any Windows Updates. Currently it says "Windows cannot check for updates". If I try and install them I get the 80072EFE error. I have tried several things including all the things here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/itprovistaie/thread/0ce7c1e6-7ef2-48e1-b7c9-c8f1e97c71d5 at the Microsoft Website.
I am sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum but I wasn't sure where to go. I may have a virus too. Defender Pro 5-in-1 finds one but cannot delete it. Malabytes Malaware program doesn't find anything and SpyBot doesn't either. I have also noticed if I google "Error Code 80072EFE" and I click on any of the links it takes me to a bogus website/domain that is usually for sale instead of an actual site. I have to physically type in the web address I want (however if I google "amazon" or something similiar it takes me right to the site when I click the links with no problems),
Please help and please advise!

This sounds and acts more like malware. Post a hijackthis log on the forum malware section so the security experts can help you. Malware section
