Windows XP Pro Install Issue "Setup was unable to format the partition"
Hello I have a Dell Latitude D600 and every time I try to do a clean install I get an error message when it tries to format the drive. The message reads: "Setup was unable to format the partition. The disk may be damaged. Make sure the drive is switched on and properly connected to your computer. If the disk is a SCSI disk, make sure your SCSI devices are properly terminated . Consult your computer manual or SCSI adapter documentation for more information. You must select a different partition for Windows XP. To continue, press ENTER." Now I know the HD is not damaged the computer originally had XP on, but I have been running Ubuntu for the last couple months, but I now need to switch back. I had no problems at all with the drive well running Ubuntu. I've run memory and HD tests and they have come back with no issues. I formated the drive with Kill Disk to make sure there's nothing on the disk stopping the install. I also used GParted and formated to NTFS from it to try to skip this step entirely but that did not work either, all the files installed except for autofmt.exe and then when the computer restarted nothing happened (blank screen). Also I have tried to install with everything that can be disabled in the bios turned off. Any input would be greatly appreciated Thanks, Ryan
