Windows XP professional Backup Utility problem

Question

I'm having a problem with the windows backup utility.  It worked fine in the past however, when I tried to to use it last night, It no longer works.  Following is the sequence of events and the error message I get: - I click Start - I then click Control Panel - I click on Performance and Maintenance. - Then I click  'Backup Your Data' - At this point, I get the welcome message to the Backup or Restore  wizard - I click next - I select 'Backup Files and Settings' - I click next - Then I get the 'what to backup' panel - I select 'All Information on this computer' - On the next panel, I select my D: drive for the backup destination and I enter a backup file name. - I click Next - On the next panel, I click 'Finish.' - Then the system displays the 'Backup Progress' panel immediately followed with another panel over the top of the Backup progress panel, from the Backup utility,  which says: 'The files for the recovery diskette could not be created.  The operation was aborted.' -There is no reason given as to why those files could not be created.  I'm puzzled, because up until about a month ago, this backup system worked fine. Turns out, the problem is with Roxio CD/DVD Creator 6.  It for some reason destroys the full backup feature in the backup utility.
