Windows "Hangs" while Shutting Down

Hi All,

I have a pretty new inspiron 1526. Lately when I shut down it goes throug the motions until the "Windows is shutting down" screen, then just hangs there and I have to press and hold the power button to get it to shut off.  Anyone have a clue as to what is causing this?

Tks,

I had a similar problem that was related to updates.  Your computer may not shutdown for 15-20 minutes while it updates and installs the Windows updates it found.  Make certain that you manually update the computer and then on shutdown, be sure that you choose Shut Down from the shutdown menu.  This will probably stop the problem.  This article may apply to you.  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/951720.
