Windows update

I already downloaded the following updates, yet Windows Update wants me to download them again

  1. Windows Genuine Advantage Notification (KB905474)
  2. Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - June 2006 (KB890830)

Should I ignore these two, or download again?

Because the Malicious Software Removal tool is regularly updated, just like an AV application, thus the need for new versions, and because the WGA  item has gotten MS into a jam over privacy issues, forcing modifications to the way it works.

MS has posted all sorts of information about the Malicious Software Removal tool at the download site, including details about the periodic updates, which is why it's usually a good idea to click on the "details" link that accompanies just about every individual item available via Windows Update.  Google (and probably every other search engine on earth) is packed with articles regarding the recent furor over the WGA debacle.  There's more than enough information out there for anyone who cares to take the time to look.

KB905474 is on Revision 3.1.... So this is probably your third or fourth install of it.

As other have said, the Malicious Software Removal Tool is updated regularly - an update is inlcuded with Microsoft's monthly release of Microsoft Updates (second Tuesday of the month).
