Writing directly to a CD while in word perfect.

I would like to be able to write directly to a CD while in Word Perfect.  I have a new Insirone 8600 with a CD-W(DVD+W too).  Windows XP OS.  I used to have an old IBM Butteryfly laptop that I could write directly to a flopply.  I would like to do the same on CD.  Can anyone walk me through it if it's even possible?  Thanks.

In many cases, programs will not save (write) directly to a CD.  A CD does not work like a floppy drive, although with a CD-RW one would assume it does.

Usually, you have to save to the hard drive first and then copy the file from the hard drive to the CD-R or RW,  One word of caution, do not have your "only copy" of any data or file on a CD-RW disc.  RW discs are known for either losing data or losing format.  Always have the data in some other secure location.  I personally do not use RW discs for that reason (and being "burned" 3 times).

You can write directly to a CDRW or DVD-RW from XP, it's just the process is a ltlle awkard.  The files you want to save first get written to a temporary folder and then those files will be burned to the media.  No other way around it.
