XP Pro Upgrade - Help with steps
Hi
I have recently taken delivery of a Dimension 3100 with XP Home installed. I discovered a couple days after that I could not install a webserver to support .asp web pages.
I have been sent, by Dell.co.uk , a XP Pro CD but no instructions on how to install. I telephoned the support line today concerned that I should capture license numbers for the various bits of software before I upgrade but was told this is not necessary ...can you confirm this is correct?
Secondly, I understand that I need to reboot the machine using the CDROM device (with XP-Pro CD loaded) ...follow the sequence/ prompts etc. ...but I am not sure what I do after that.
I have loads of CDs sent to me by dell.co.uk namely ...
1. "For re-installing Eurotools, System Software" 2off CDs
2. "Dimension ResourceCD" (Device drivers, diagnostics, utils, documentation
3. "Dimension 3100/E310 ResourceCD" (device drivers, diagnostics, Utils, documentation
4. "Reinstalling Sonic DigitalMedia v.7 LE and MyDVD 6.11 LE Software"
5. "Reinstalling Sonic Digital Media v.7 LE Software"
6. "Reinstalling CyberLink PowerDVD 5.5 Software"
Do you have a set of instructions you could send me please?
Lastly, I believe that there is a partition on my hardisk with XPHome etc. installed ...what should I do with this? can I place a copy of XP Pro there? what do you suggest?
I was due to receive a set of instructions by email following my call to Dell ....but they have not arrived!!

I'll give this look ...cheers.
I think the XP pro bit of the reinstall should be fairly straight forward (famous last words and all that). I was more concerned with the order/sequence of the remaining CDs I listed.

Looking at the instructions on http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sg_clean.asp I have to enter a 25 character product key. Where do I find this for XP Pro?
I have a sticker for XP Home on top of my PC but cannot find a similar number/ sticker for XP Pro. On the CD it just says "For distribution only with a new Dell PC" and on the booklet it states "The COA can be found on the back of this book or on a sticker attached to your computer" ...but it is not on the back of the booklet!
Help!
