XP: Win Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close
Windows XP Explorer is crashing with (2) instances open and drilling down (3) levels within 'My Documents'. interestingly, one folder (thumbnail view) lacks file names.
i have scanned for malware with Spybot S&D and Malwarebytes, run a full CHKDISK and "SFC /scannow", AVAST boot-time scan, and selective startup clean boot. I cannot run System Restore.
i have a 2007 Dell Latitude D520 laptop; I'm not readily certain what restore media it shipped with. Error message:
AppName: explorer.exe
AppVer: 6.0.2900.5512
ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.5755
Offset: 0001b21a
Hijack This log attached if desired -- thanks in advance

In addition to CHKDSK you should run the extended Dell Diagnostics on the hard drive.
