Memtest86 comes highly recommended from many forums.Did you try removing the recent updates that might have caused this?Did you try system restore?

Try process of elimination by uninstalling one update at a time on the date in question via add/remove.You can always reinstall them.

yeah i tryed to restore a few times and it never worked. i unistalled internet explorer 7 which i thought was the problem because it started to give me problems after that was installed. i also think that i did some xp updates around the same time as i installed internet explorer 7. i dont know if i should uninstall all the xp updates on the date in which i think this all happened?

its says that you shouldnt do the hotfix unless its exactly what you need i couldnt find exactly the same description as the one i got. the one the hotfix is for is STOP: 0x000000C2 (Parameter1, Parameter2, Parameter3, Parameter4)
BAD_POOL_CALLER
the one i got was
STOP: 0x000000C2 ( 0x00000007, ox00000CD4, 0x00000001, 0x8622EF60)
BAD_POOL_CALLER

i dont know if that one will work for me?
