boot hangs when using external keyboard

Question

I have a new Inspiron 6000 with Windows XP Media Center.  The boot up stops during the opening screen when I have a new Microsoft Natural Keyboard 4000 attached.  Any suggestions?  Thanks a bunch.

Have you installed the latest Intellitype software? Unplug the keyboard, download & install the latest version for Media Center from here: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/download.mspx It's more recent than the disk that came with the keyboard.

I have downloaded and installed the latest version of the software for the keyboard and the problem persists.  Next step?
