camera connected. select program to launch
When I connect my Canon PowerShot A310 camera to my pc, instead of allowing me to download the pictures the camera screen goes blank and I get a box that pops up on my pc screen. It says, "camera connected" and "select the program to launch for this action." The problem is that there aren't any programs available to choose. It seems like my camera isn't being detected properly. I have plugged it into other people's computers that also have Inspirons with Windows XP and the camera functions properly, launching a program to download the pictures. I have tried reinstalling all of my photo software and have attempted to reinstall the drivers without success. Anyone have any suggestions?

Go to Start/Run and type: regsvr32 shimgvw.dll then OK.

Just a suggestion you also may want to get a card reader for this to save your battery.A lot of people have issues with the software that comes with cameras. You can uninstall your camera software and a usb card reader will automatically be recognized by windows and work. But first you should follow Augies advice.
