Are the new shortcuts actually not there or are they just hidden? Right click on the taskbar, select "Unlock the taskbar" and then drag the boundary to the right. When all of the icons display, then lock the taskbar again.
Open Windows Explorer. Drill down to the c:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch folder. See if you can drag and drop a shortcut into that folder. You might want to right click on the Quick Launch folder, select Properties, and then in the Security tab check to see that you have full permissions for the folder.

Actually, try one more thing:
Open Windows Explorer. Drill down to the c:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch folder. See if you can drag and drop a shortcut into that folder. You might want to right click on the Quick Launch folder, select Properties, and then in the Security tab check to see that you have full permissions for the folder.

Ok I did forget to add that I always do check to see if they're hidden. They just don't want to appear there for some reason:smileysad:

Hi Maria,
How are you adding items to the Quick Launch toolbar? Have you tried the "Add to Quick Launch" context menu option that's included in Windows Vista?

Simply drag the program (or its shortcut) to the Quick Launch toolbar (as in pre-Vista systems). Alternately, you may use my script here:
Add Quick Launch (create shortcut) option to the Send To menu in Windows XP/Vista:
