cannot go pass the user screen

Question

This past weekend I ran a virus scan using active scan online provided through the panda software website. After the scan finished it showed that there were viruses on the computer. I shut the computer down and restarted the computer in safe mode. The computer opened up to the user screen. After I clicked on administrator it logged on then logged off right away. The screen would black out a bit before it switched into logging off mode. I tried getting onto the main screen without going through safe mode but it did the same thing. I don't know if I should just restore my computer? I don't want to lose all of my documents. Is there a way to restore without losing my documents? Is there a solution without having to restore my computer?
