I saved the file that disables autocomplete to my computer (from line 37 of the article) but all the search engines, google, yahoo... and other programs still save my searches and I cant get rid of them. Any other ideas.
Only other thing I can think of. Right click the IE icon on desktop, properties, content tab, auto complete button, uncheck web address, users names and passwords on forms. Click clear forms and ok. Hope this helps.
If you are concerned about security, you might use
Firefox. It is not intergrated into windows like IE,it is separate. You can clear all cookies, history, cache, so that nothing is keep of your web browsing. I use it all the time now.
Web browser add-ins such as the Google Toolbar should have methods for clearing search histories. Google's is described
here, under "Options Tab/Searching".
