Did you start by reading the user guide and setup guide that came with the router?  Do you have specific questions on this?

If you could provide more details, it would be helpful.  What kind of modem are you connecting the router to - cable or dsl?  Are you having trouble getting an ethernet connection or a wireless connection. Note that it is best and easiest if you get the network working with the ethernet connection.  It is awfully difficult to configure the wireless connection if you don't have a wireless connection to the router to begin with.  All configuration should be done through the ethernet connection.  Have you done a reset of the modem before connecting it to the router?  If not, turn off the modem, router, and computers.  Wait 5 minutes.  Turn on the modem, wait 5 more minutes, then turn on the computers.

The software that Dell ships with their routers (which model is it, by the way) is often problematical.  It is better to use the web based configuration utility to access the router and set things up.  If your TCP/IP properties are set to obtain an IP address automatically you should be able to connect to the router through an ethernet connection by opening Internet Explorer and typing http://192.168.2.1 into the address bar.  Once in the web based configuration utility, you can set up PPPoE if you have a dsl modem.   If you have a cable modem, then it should be able to connect to the internet after doing the reset of modem.

Once you can connect to the modem and the internet throught a wired ethernet connection, you can then set up the wireless configuration.   As a first step, avoid chainging any of the wireless security settings and see if you can get the computer that will connect by wireless to access the internet.  If you can, then go back to the web based configuration utility from the ethernet connection and set up the wireless security (SSID, MAC address filtering, WPA encryption).  For a guide on how to do this, see the following:

You will then have to go the computer that will connect by wireless and set the SSID, and WPA encryption key.  If you still have problems, post back with more information, as requested above, and we can probably help.
