corrupt files and how to fix them?

I've got several corrupt files and I want to repair them with the install disk if possible. Is there any way to do it without completely re-installing Windows XP? I have Windows XP operating system with a Dell Dimension 8300. I would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!

If it's Windows system files you're talking about, run the System File Checker by going to Start / Run..... and typing "sfc /scannow" (without the quotation marks - note the space before the /). This will replace any damaged system files. You may be asked to insert your Windows disk at some point.
