disabling alt + shift + o in Outlook

Inspirion 530, Vista.  I need to inactivate the Outlook shortcut alt + shift + o.  At present this shortcut takes me to the Format menu.  I need to inactivate this shortcut so that alt + shift + o gives me upper case accented o. (I am writing, at times in Irish/Gaelic/ and the accents are necessary.)

I am not sure this will help you.  Press the Alt key and use the numeric keypad.

Alt 0210 = Ò

Alt 0242 = ò

Alt 0211 = Ó

Alt 0243 = ó

Alt 0212 = Ô

Alt 0244 = ô

Alt 0213 = Õ

Alt 0245 = õ

Alt 0214 = Ö

Alt 0246 = ö

You should post this in the MS Office forum. That's where the gurus are that could answer this best. The character key shortcuts are usually controlled by using the Numlock key and using a number code instead of your shortcut and by selecting the correct Font. Use the Insert>symbol command in Word to see what you can use. Be sure to mention which version of Office/outlook you have if you repost.

I tried the above hint and it works with OL's editor, but you must have the numlock on and press the Insert key before the Alt+number code.

Sorry, friends, but using the numerical keys is not an option.  The accents occur so frequently that I really do need to disable the shortcut in Outlook.  At present I can accent all the vowels, upper and lower case, by using, for example, a + ctrl to give me an accented lower case "a" (all Irish accents are upsloping).  Before I switched to Vista (from XP) I had no problems with my accent system.  It is only with Outlook in Vista (and not with Word in Vista) that alt + shift + o is screwing me up.  I will take up the suggestion to ask Microsoft about a fix and I thank you for your suggestions.
