eViewer.exe.

Thank goodness I found this forum!!! A friend??told me to clear out my computer so I deleted progams that I evidently need. Is there any way of retrieving them? I have recently bought a digital camera, but when I click on my usually easy-to-find files I get the message 'Windows cannot find eViewer.exe. This program is needed for opening files of type "JPG File".'  I run a Windows ME system and hope someone can help me as I am not very computer literate (although I DID find this forum) TIA,Oldwindow

That program should be on the CD that came with your camera. It looks like Fuji distributes it. Is that your camera brand?

It's described on Fujifilm's Web site as an Exif Viewer. Here's a  link to Fujifilm Support's downloads page. Scroll down to the section on FinePix 1300, 1400z, 2300, 2400z, 4700z, 4900z, 40i, and you'll see it.

My Camera is a 'Canon Power shot 300' . But thanks for your help...I have the program for the camers, but I think my problems began before I bought the camera, but I'll certainly give it a try. Oldwindow

There seem to be programs from several vendors called "eViewer.exe". I'll see if I can determine what the default viewer for "jpg" files for Windows ME is. So far, I've not been able to find what the original association was.

(edit) See if you can restore the default (apparently Microsoft Internet Explorer) using the following information from Microsoft:

1. On the Tools menu in My Computer or in Microsoft Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
2. Click the View tab.
3. Click to clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box.

To change file associations, follow these steps:

1. Right-click a file with the extension whose association you want to change, and then click Open With.
2. In the Open With dialog box, click the program where you want the file to open (in this case Microsoft Internet Explorer), or click Browse to locate the program that you want.
3. Click to select the Always use the selected program to open this kind of file check box.

Oldwindow,

The default viewer for .jpg files (and .gif files) is Internet Explorer. To set up that association (assuming eViewer is nothing more than a file viewer, which it sounds like) find a .jpg file in Windows Explorer. Click to select it then Shift+right-click and select "Open with" from the context menu. Scroll down the list of applications and select your favorite graphics program (Internet Explorer will work if you don't have another), click to select it, then check the box at the bottom of that dialog that tells Windows to always use that application to open that file type.

Thanks Jim, for your help. I downloaded ' something' as you first suggesed and although my computer is still saying that it can't find eviewer.exe.,whatever I downloaded has allowed me to view bigger sizes of my photos and cards, so I'll keep watching and count to ten before I delete anything again!!  Oldwindow.
