factory.wim
I know that the file factory.wim is used for restoring the computer to factory settings but exactly what settings will it change and what are the steps for restoring the computer using factory.wim?

Hi imux, What it does it puts your system back to when you got it out of the box. You will loose all you personal data, because it formats your hard drive, and reloads windows. To use the restore depends on how old your system is, some is F8 for newer systems, others its CTRL+ F11. You did not say what system you have, so no info can be given to you, on whither you use the F8 or CTRL + F11.
Ps to use F8 or CTRL F11, you reboot your system, when you see the dell splash screen, then press F8 or CTRL + F11, then select repair windows.
