I recently purchased a Inspirion E1505 notebook, the rest of my network is Win XP, i was trying to file/print share with my server but i cant get the vista system to recognize my network or network printer so i need some help.

Open the Network and Sharing Center on the Vista computer. You need to enable several options there and change to the name of your workgroup. Vista default name is WORKGROUP, while XP uses MSHOME. Look at the help pages in the Network & Sharing Center. Vista help is really very good and uses the Online Help site. Look up setup network.
