I recently got a new Laptop with windows XP Pro SP2, and everytime I try to access a ftp site from IE it just idles on the previews page, I even tried to do it from the add network place utility.
I have three other PC's in the house that are using diferent OS and I have no problem going to the ftp site, can somone make any suggestions, such as settinfgs that need to be change.

Thanks in Advance

I am using I.E. 6 on my XP Pro system (with SP2) without problems and without doing any special reconfiguration of I.E.6.

The URL that I use, for my peronal web site, starts with ftp://  instead of http://

ftp://juilliard.broward.edu is the link that I'm trying to use, I can access this site from any other PC at home, but not from my new machine with XP Pro, let me also add that I'm using McFee Security Center, I don't know if there is something I must change there as well.

Thanks for any  help

I clicked on your link you gave and the site openened normally in IE 6 (XP SP2 home). I was a bit surprised that no password is needed; obviously I did not download any of the files, but it does seem odd that I got immediate access to what looked like a lot of private files.

I don't have Mcafee security center, so maybe that is what you could look at; does the site open if you temporarily disable the security center?

I haven't tried disabling the Security center yet, but I looked at all the setting and did not see anything obvious, the site is a public site for school, to get assigments
