Whatever the case, all is not lost. There are ways to recover your photos even if the system drive is unbootable. I recovered one client's family photos on a Windows XP drive that had been partitioned and reformatted with Windows 98.
If you are familiar with creating bootable CDs from ISO images, please advise so that we can help you recover your photos.
I am not familiar with making bootable disks but the message STOP: C000021a {Fatal System Error{ The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000135 (0x00000000 0x00000000). The system has been shut down.
this is the message on a blue screen. It will do diagnostics during boot up if I hit PF12 key, but the photos of united States marines and the air Force were very old I cant find them.
Don't worry about the error message right now. First, let's try to get your photos and documents back. To do this, you will need to download the Universal Boot CD for Windows. A description of the UBCD and download mirror links is here:
http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/download.html
Print out the above page. Download the UBCD file to a folder on your hard drive (you will need to be on either cable or DSL to download such a large file in a timely manner). Ben Burrows gives a few suggestions on which compressed file to download on the above web page. Extract the ISO image file. It should be something like ubcdnn.iso where nn is the version number.
Once you have the ubcdnn.iso file, then start up your CD burning software; i.e., Nero or Roxio. Both of these programs have menu selections for burning a bootable CD from an ISO image file.
Once you have created the UBCD for Windows bootable CD, you can then use it to boot up your computer. The UBCD has utilities that will let you examine the files on your hard drive and copy them to external media such as an external USB drive or a CD-R or CD-R/W disk.
Once you have your data recovered, then we can move on with attempting a repair of your Windows operating system.
