read the manual, find it on http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/post?board.id=vista&message.reply_to_id=30734 page 134.

Clearing Forgotten Passwords

CAUTION: Before you perform any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions in the Product

Information Guide.

1 Follow the procedures in "Before Working Inside Your Computer" on page 78.

2 Locate the 2-pin password jumper (CLRPSWD) on the system board (see "System Board

Components" on page 81), and remove the jumper to clear the password.

NOTE: When you receive your computer, the jumper plug is attached to pins 1 and 2.

3 Replace the computer cover (see "Replacing the Computer Cover" on page 121).

4 Connect your computer and monitor to electrical outlets, and then turn them on.

5 After the Microsoft® Windows® desktop appears on your computer, shut down the computer (see

"Turning Off Your Computer" on page 77).

6 Turn off the monitor and disconnect it from the electrical outlet.

7 Disconnect the computer power cable from the electrical outlet, then press the power button to

ground the system board.

8 Remove the computer cover (see "Removing the Computer Cover" on page 78).

9 Locate the 2-pin password jumper (CLRPSWD) on the system board (see "System Board

Components" on page 81) and attach the jumper to pins 1 and 2 to reenable the password feature.

10 Replace the computer cover (see "Replacing the Computer Cover" on page 121).

NOTICE: To connect a network cable, first plug the cable into the network device and then plug it into the

computer.

11 Connect your computer and devices to electrical outlets, and then turn them

What kakarottokang is talking about is a Windows Password, not the BIOS that is explained on the documment you posted. Unafortunately Windows Vista fixed a XP problem, when we can recover a lost pasword from Safe Mode. Now this is not an option. The only thing I can think right now, is to make a PCRestore (but from the Vista DVD because if we try to use the F8 option, it will ask you for a user and password), or for a clean install.

As an alternatevly option, if you have any other user on the computer (as administrator) you can delete the account and then create a new one...

Note that with this options you wont be able to retreive the information, so you'll lose your documents... At least you take your hard drive, install it in another computer (with Vista) and look for your information.

Might I suggest you simply try some passwords you use often?  Make sure to pay attention to things like caps lock and number lock.  If you cannot remember it, the only method to use is posted directly above.  I would also advise enabling the hidden administrator account (literally, username "Administrator" ) and setting the password as something you will never forget.  That way, you can always get on the system to copy personal files if something messes up your normal user account.

Edit: Stupid Smiley robots always popping up.

thanks ricolit for reply,

but your solution is for hardware bios password,

the problem here is a software, windows vista login: Aministrator password
even thought if I want to login windows vista as Administrator to fix a problem of windows and I can not go no where  because w/o password.

However, I think the way DELL setup image restore via Windows Vista is hidden control the password of Aministrator and end user unable to HAVE it :((((
like me i forgot my login password and suddenly i discover that hidden secret of Image restore of Windows Vista's administrator password.

I talk with DELL technical support more than 3 hours and end up they will send a tech support to come to my house to replace an hard disk, However, I wonder how they solve the problem once they come with new image's hard disk include hidden magic's Administrator passsword

I guess all of DELL's users of windows vista does not know about this yet.
but whoever use vista and give it a try and login as administrator's login and see for yourself.  Do you have a password or DELL's a magic password's hidden. ?

Hope the tech. has this solution for future's image restore via windows vista

It's true what Rosach says. Because the solutions are very drastic.

http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/

Download the CD image from there.  Create the CD.  Read the directions that tell how to reset the Administrator password.

You will be in good shape.

If that doesn't work.  A clean reload is in your future!

update

today the computer technician came and replace a new hard disk w/ image restore

they talked almost 3 hrs and still a same issue w/  Administrator login's password

end up, they blamed the problem with motherboard.
well, they said they will replace it and i wonder if they can fix the magician's hidden Administrator login's password or not .

from my point of view is a software not hardware's problem  :(
