I'm having trouble selecting a screen saver, and it won't let me. It would keep saying, "none" on the pull down menu in the screen saver tab. what should i do?
Pull the menu down to the Screen Saver you want, then make sure you hit the "Apply" button. You don't want to simply close the properties using the "X" button.
If you already are doing this, I'm not sure what else to suggest.
it can search XP for Screen Saver files & allows u to set them to auto change ,but don't delete files from found list as it deletes from System also ( a warning message is displayed ) just click on grey area to enter.
You could also try from Command Line enter sfc /scannow & click OK it checks system files for corruption & tryed to replaces them from XP SP1 CD , if it gives wrong version insert XP SP1 CD then your installed Product Key isn't the same as XP CD (COA) Product Key ,which you can change , just Reply for info on how to change.

Sorry - i should have doulble-checked before giving you my first suggestion. When you right-click on a picture of choice, the command will say "set as desktop background" (not as sreensaver).
I downloaded Druid. Will that delete the Screen Savers that came with my Windows XP? If I run *.scr, and try to delete, they just keep reappearing. One other little question, when I run SFC /scannow I lose 1GB of space, why?
Thank you in advance for any help,
Sincerely,
Elizabeth .... Nevermind, gryjhnhpe, Druid worked GREAT! .... thank you so much. Could answer my 'little' question about SFC /scannow ...... Thanks :o)

Druid won't auto delete any screen savers but you can delete screen savers from your system if you manually use Druid Delete found screen savers. Screen Savers found with Search Advanced *.scr & then Deleted will be auto replaced by Windows File Protection as they are also kept in the DLLCACHE like other system protected files. Strange if running SFC /scannow uses 1 GB of Disk space it shouldn't use any more space unless it adds some files from XP CD. Running SFC /purgecache will empty the DLLCACHE of its copy of protected system files & of course gain Disk space but protection no longer can work. SFC /purgecache should be followed by SFC /scannow which replaces removed files from the XP CD. However some Windows Updates change the files in DLLCACHE so these can't be replaced by SFC /purgecache ( I think it replaces Updated files with old version from XP CD , not sure.)
Another uses of Disk space is System Restore points but you can regain the space used by all but the Last Restore Point (Last is the highest date as I have found if you set Date to say 2010 & create Manual Restore Point then set Date to current , the 2010 Restore Point is saved). To delete all but the Last Restore Point use System Tools > Disk Cleanup > More Options tab, System Restore , Disk cleanup button , Yes , then Cancel.

I unzipped Druid, had it search for Screen Savers, and deleted them one by one. Thanks again :o)
Now, I delete all but the Last Restore point as often as I can, like a uncluttered computer. You said: "To delete all but the Last Restore Point use System Tools > Disk Cleanup > More Options tab, System Restore , Disk cleanup button , Yes , then Cancel."

Wouldn't I push Okay instead of Cancel?
Since you have used "More Options" ,"System Restore" , "Clean up" it is only necessary to click "Cancel" as if you click OK it will "Cleanup" according the Items shown ticked in "Disk Cleanup" window.
