how do I get or make a copy of the Windows 7 OS disk?

how do I get a copy of the Windows disk? Likewise, is there a way to copy it

from the computer to a CD/DVD?  What if the  hard drive ever crashes?

I have a Dell Refurbished Lattitude E6410 with Windows 7.

that I purchased from Staples.  I think theres a way to make a recovery disk, and should be a way to

make a O/S Back up disk.

My Dell 2003 Desk top shipped with the OS, and drivers Disk..

but not my two last laptop computers.

You should make a Rescue Disk (Bootable External Hard Drive) and/or Factory Backup (Bootable USB Flash Drive) using the Latest version of Dell Backup and Recovery. See here for details:

I demonstrate creating the recovery media and using it to install the factory settings on a new SSD.

Thanks for the informative Video on using a USB for making a System Recovery USB.

Now all I have to do is follow these steps.

BTW:  My intent is to just make a Bootable USB Flash Drive.

will that be all I need if my PC /laptop is not booting up?

Whats the differance between the  "  Factory Backup (Bootable USB Flash Drive) " , and the " Rescue Disk " ?  I presume I may need both?

The new version of Dell Backup and Recovery makes the differences more clear between the different media types. I have been working on a more up to date guide. You should upgrade to the latest version and make a 16 GB USB Flash Drive:

http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/dell-backup-and-recovery-1-8-1-71/

This guide so far is based on Windows 8.1 (and is incomplete) but Steps 1-3 (which are complete) to make the USB media should be more or less identical in Windows 7.

You do not need both but its always safer to have both.
