iTunes freezes during import - possible CD-Rom driver problem?

Hello,
I have installed iTunes on my Dell and for many CDs (but not all) the iTunes program freezes while importing a song. The iTunes help boards told me that I might need to update my CD-Rom drivers.

Has anyone experienced similar problems with their iTunes? Would updated the CD-Rom driver fix the problem? And if so, how might one go about doing that?

Thanks!
d

There are no drivers other than the generic drivers built into Windows.

There may be a "firmware" update for the CD drive (check the Dell downloads). or check The Predator's site as he has a list of drive models that there are firmware updates for (you must have your drive model number or Dell Part number as the firmware updates are model specific).

However, there has been many posts about incompatibilies with some CD drives and the iTunes media program.  I haven't looked at any posts lately so I don't know if iTunes has added the support for more Windows PC drives.
