install xp from i386 folder?

quick question... i need to do a clean install of xp, but want to get the dell oem version. i can't (of course) find my dell xp cd. i have a ghost image of the original state of my computer, but need to do a slipstream xp sp2 install, so i need the original xp cd.

is it possible to make an original cd from the i386 folder to perform the install?

thanks

I doubt it. The I386 folder does not contain the setup.exe and some other files that are in the root directory of the CD. Also, the copy of I386 on your PC is not identical to that on the CD (some files are expanded during the copy and some subfolders are not copied). Also the Dell files in the $OEM$ folder on the CD are not copied to your hard drive, or at least not to the I386 folder.

Sounds like your best bet may be to restore from your Ghost image. Then download and re-install SP2. Now make a NEW Ghost image. Then you will have an image to use that already has SP2 on it.
