hi,

I don't know what the deal is. I just noticed it the other day. I did notice however that there are 3 different "numbers" listed there for each one. I am on another computer now so I can't give the exact details. I am just curious if this is normal. OR if the kernel is triplicated somehow. My desktop running win 98 only shows it once.

I have it too. I first noticed it when I tried to access Microsoft Money and got an error referring to that file.

What is it?

I've got 3 running too. Sounds like it's normal.

I have Windows ME and there are 3 running tasks for kernel32.dll

It is possible that in ME the tasks for the OS have been broken out into 3 separate components and therefore 3 separate tasks are running even though it is the same module whereas in 98SE just one task takes care of all the functions. I do not think it is abnormal but would like to hear from others.

thanks for the responses, so is this one of the reasons why win me is slower than win 98??

I have three copies running, and they are helping slow my performance to a crawl.

  • Dimension 2100
  • 900 MHz
  • 256 MB RAM, rapidly depleted on the typical day
  • Windows ME

I wonder if it would help to reinstall Windows ME.
