.net framework and urgent application from drivers section
Hello, I have been to the dell support website and downloaded an urgent application from the drivers and downloads section. However, when I try to run it I get a message saying that I have to go to an msdn microsoft site and get a .net framework.
Before I can download this .net framework it mentions that "If you have installed earlier pre-release versions of .NET Framework 3.5, then you must uninstall them prior to running this installation by using Add or Remove Programs. "
The problem is though I do not know if I have earlier pre-release versions of .net framework 3.5 on my computer. How do I know if I have it already? My computer is a Dell Dimension 3100 and i have Microsoft XP. thanks for your help.

Hi, I went to my control panel and add/remove programs, and the only thing I saw with the word framework in it was something called 'Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.0'. Now it doesn't have a Size next to it and it has a funny icon of a little computer next to it, whichc makes me think that perhaps it has not been installed onto my computer, just saved onto my computer.
I went to delete it but a message came up saying 'If Wudf01000 is removed, programs might not run properly', and then it gave a big list of all my programmes on my computer. I'm scared to delete it incase in stops my computer from working, but if I don't delete it then I cannot download the .net framework 3.5 which I need in order to run the dell driver update.
Is it safe to delete the 'Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.0' from my control panel and the 'Wudf01000' or would you recommend against that? Thanks very much for you r help.

The Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.0 is part of Windows Media Player 11. It has nothing to do with .NET Framework.
Try downloading .NET Framework 3.5 offline installer and run it from your hard drive:
