What happens if you select multiple files and just hit the Enter key?

Hmmm - the files open when I do that!  Very strange - but I now think I know what the problem is (or at least what is contributing to it.)   I did a registry tweak (see PCAnswers-Tutorial) to create  COPY TO FOLDER and MOVE TO FOLDER items in context menu.  Having now reversed that tweak all is back to normal.

Seems that in Windopws XP there is no gain without pain!!!!!

Actually, I was thinking that you might be moving the mouse ever so slightly while clicking on one of the files and XP interpreted that as an attempt to move.  But your answer was far more interesting.  :smileywink:

If you frequently want to copy files to some specific folder, make a shortcut of that folder in

C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\SendTo folder.

 

Then it will appear in the list when you right click, click send to.

This copies the files, rather than moves them; If you want to move them, use the send to, then delete them from the original location.

 

You can also add shortcuts to specific program .exe files to the SendTo folder (Notepad is useful, I find).
