power light problems

My computer is xps 400.  But every time my computer connect to the power supply. The power light  1 and 2 and 3 and 4 light flash automatically. And after around 2 sec, it close by itself. I have to press the power button to turn on the computer.  Is there something with my power light.

Thank you!!!

I am assuming that you are seeing the lights flash momentarily when the power source (surge protector or UPS backup power) is turned on and not the computer.  If so, this sounds normal.  When the AC power is restored to the system it will momentarily power up and if the system isn't set to automatically power up after a loss of AC power then it will shut back down.  During this brief power up you may even hear the drives start spinning up.

If you are trying to get you system to automatically power up when the switch to surge protector or UPS backup is turned on then you will have to change a setting in the BIOS Setup.  Go into your BIOS Setup by pressing the F2 key when the Dell logo appears on screen.  Then look under the Power Management heading of the BIOS options for the AC Recovery option and turn this setting On.  Then save the change and exit the BIOS program.  After this setting is change the system will automatically start up when the switch is thrown on your power source.
