problem using windows update (validation tool doesn't instal)

Hi,
Thanks for taking time to help. I have XP Home with SP1. yesterday, i went to windows update and it told me i needed to instal Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130). I clicked on download and it did and when it tried to instal, it failed and gave Error Code:  0x80070005 . I tried instaling on my brother's Inspiron which had SP2 and got no problems. But appearntly, i am not alone, other people are also having trouble. How can i fix it? Once again thanks for your time.

Try installing SP2, May be required by the Validation Tool. May also need to install all the security updates since SP2.

Well it appears to be a widespread problem. A lot of people, including people with SP2 are having this problem, In fact just today MS released this solution http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905226/en-us . I followed the steps and still didn't solve the problem. At least i am not alone, that means there must be a flaw with the update it self.
