proper sequence for re-install.

Question

Greetings, I am unsure of the proper sequence to do a operating system reinstall on an Inspiron 1501. The 1501 was purchased with Win XP Media Center as the OS. I performed a Vista Express Upgrade several months later. Now I want to perform a clean re-install of Vista, but I have read different opinions in the forum. Question: Do I reformat to XP and perform the Vista  Upgrade second, or can I go straight to the Vista re-install? kpb

Hi kpb28, If you have a full reinstall vista disc, then boot off the disc to reinstall vista. However, if it was a upgrade disc, then you will have to do a clean install of XP, then reinstall vista via the upgrade disc. HERE is a journal on how to reinstall your OP
