Thanks for this thought. Yes, Kaspersky is compatible with Vista. More to the point, the two worked fine together for the first six weeks I've owned this computer. The problem - which seems only incidentally to have affected the AV program, along with other Vista functions - appeared out of the blue.
If i were trying to trouble shoot this problem the first thing i would
do is remove Kaspersky and see if the problem goes away it could be an update to the software that is causing the problem if it stays
then you know that it is not the problem other than that remove some of the newer software
or windows updates that you just installed to see if your problem goes away !
I know it can be a hassle to run down some of these problems but if you do it in steps you should be able to find the problem and then find a fix for it.
