Try and adjust the security settings for the folder that the music files are in. You might need to set the access permission to allow access for windows media player.
Right click on the folder select properties and look at the security tab to see that full access is assigned to the folder.
Thanks for the suggestion. It seems everything is in order, but I still get the error message.
I went to DELL with the issue and they couldn't figure it out after taking control of my machine. The tech loaded another program to play the wmv file and that worked. He tried to uninstall Windows Media Player and reloaded it, but that didn't work.
So problem is unsolved. Add it to the growing list of things that DON'T work on my relatively new machine running VISTA. Sad...
