I made my own using Autostreamer, my Dell XP CD, and the full download of XP3. I have done a clean install using the resulting "slipstreamed" CD and can confirm that it works.

Copy your cd to a folder on your desktop.

Download and install nlite.

Download service pack 3 standalone.

Use nlite and tell it to select your folder on desktop, select xp service pack 3 with nlite.

Tell it to run, shut down nlite so it saves.

Tell nlite to create an .iso file.

Burn this .iso file to a cd using a program such as Roxio.

You now have a bootable xp disc with service pack 3. There are many tweaks and other things you can do with nlite, have fun.

I wonder if you requested a replacement here, what you would get?

As of today XP SP2. The computer for which it was ordered came with SP1 so it's  a step up.

Took about 48 hours to arrive and came with drivers, applications and "tools system software" CDs. No charge at all.

My experience with Dell support continues to be excellent.

Kudos Dell...

Well you can create a slip stream with service pack 3 if you want. Although does not work so well with XP MCE.
