sqlservr.exe running in background but I don't have SQL Server

I recently purchased an Inspiron 1100 and I've noticed a sqlservr.exe process running in the background.  I do not have Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or anything like that installed on my laptop.  I've encountered the sqlservr.exe process running in the background before on a Compaq server and I was told that it is used for logging system information for HP's propietary support software.  Does anyone know what my Inspiron's instance of sqlservr.exe is used for?  If there is a good reason for it to be running, then great; otherwise, I have a mind to disable it.

Thanks,
Dan

There are many ways to have a copy of sqlservr.exe get installed. The most important thing to know about unpatched versions of Microsoft's SQL server is that they're susceptible to the vicious "SQL Slammer" worm.

Here's  Microsoft's article about the problem, and  another article about detecting and removing the vulnerability.
