transfer from my old hard drive to a new one

Hi, I just bought a new maxtor for my dimension 4300S, I can not install both hard drives in my computer because of space, (can I?)

Is there a way to copy all my files and programs from one disk to the other?

Thank You

eduardo1972,

No, your system only has one internal drive bay. One option for you is to copy your perishable data to removable media (CD) and then copy it back after the new hard disk is installed. Your operating system and applications would have to be installed on the new hard drive (rather than copied to it) in any case. Your other option is to purchase a disk imaging program and make CD images of the entire installation on the current hard disk then install that image on the new disk.

Jusat for everybody to know, in the Maxtor hard drive I bought it cames a CD that make every thing for you. Just plug in the new hard drive us a Slave and the Maxtor CD do the rest, incredible!!!!
