video codecs needed!

hello...

so i've been trying to play these extracted dvd files i extracted using dvd decrypted a while back but i had to format my hard drive and start from scratch (because i upgraded to vista)

i saved the files and have them on my pc but i can't play them because i think i'm in need of some video codecs...the problem is...i don't know how to look for them.

i have powerdvd as my dvd/blu ray disc player but i cant seem to be able and play those files with that program...neither with windows media player.

the files do end with a .VOB (if that helps in any way)

i appreciate the help from anyone in advanced! thanks!

Windows Media Player lacks a lot of codecs unfortunately.

I use the k-lite codec pack.

I haven't found a type of video file it can't open yet. You can download it from here:

http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=4523&s=95

Another thing to try is download the free version of realplayer from here:

http://europe.real.com/player/win/?&src=ZG.eu.idx

Hope this helps.

Although the solution below probably would work I wouldn't recommend it since K-lite codec pack installs alot of lousy codecs that will just slow things down. Instead I would recommend downloading VLC Media Player or Media Player Classic. You can get links finding google.com, there's alot of mirrors out there.

Best of luck,

Daniel
