weird problem

Question

I'm having a very weird problem when loading pages on my computer. When I click on links or even when I put an address into the bar at the top of my browser my computer doesn't load the page, I need to click on the 'go' button or clink on the link multiple times before the load bar starts running. I have no idea what this could be caused by, I've been told it probably has something do with my security settings but I'm not seeing any differences between my settings and the other settings of the computers in my house. Also, when the pages do finally load there are many pictures or parts of the page that don't load with the rest of it, they are left as broken pictures. If there is any advice you could give me on this problem it would be greatly appreciated being that I am totally confused and have exhausted most of my computer resources with no luck. Thanks. Jake

'... Their DNS servers have been flaky for about 4 months. ...' Did you try to specify DNS servers manually in your connection? Earthlink works fine: 207.69.188.185 207.69.188.186 207.69.188.187

Sounds like it could be a DNS problem. Have such problems with BellSouth ADSL. Their DNS servers have been flaky for about 4 months. The first click may fail to connect, the second usually connects, but there may be pictures, etc. on another page which don't load. A reload usually fills in the missing parts.

sorry I'm kind of computer illiterate, but how do you change your DNS numbers like you mentioned? if you could let me know I'd really appreciate it...and do I just put in one of those 3 #'s or what? thanks a lot
