windows does'nt boot

error txt like this on the monitor .... Loading PBR for descriptor 2 .....done A disk read erroe occured Press Ctrl+Alt+Del tp restart i've been doing this many times over and the windows xp comes out but then goes back to this screen..what is wrong with this computer? can you tell me. please. thank you.

DELL DIMENSION 8101..HAVE THE REGULAR SOFTWARE OF DELL AND WHAT I ADDED ONLY IS THE AVG ANTI VIRUS. WAS DOING GREAT AFTER I DL THE AVG THEN AFTER A WEEK THE PROBLEM CAME UP. I DID'NT DO ANYTHING EXCEPT KEPT ON REBOOTING CTRL/ALT/DELETE..BUT TO NO AVAIL. LET ME KNOW ..THANKS

Reboot and press F12 before XP starts to load. Go to Utilities partition and run extended hard drive tests. Copy down any error messages.

Then boot from your XP Reinstallation CD and press R at first screen to run Recovery Console. At the C: prompt, type in:

chkdsk c: /p /r
Press Enter

This will take a l-o-n-g time to run, so just leave it alone until it finishes.
