windows not shutting down properly

Question

hi!   i've got a new inspiron 5150. i've noticed that when it's closing down it gets stuck on the 'windows is shutting down' screen. i've tried to let it close down without doing anything but for one day it was on that screen for 5 hrs!! hope someone can help cause this problem doesn't seem to be going away. should i reinstall XP etc. or is there an easier solution to this?   thanks in advance!

(sorry for the delay in replying)   thanks a lot man i tryed the solution suggested by a person in that article (suzie i think) and it seems to be working so far.....i owe u one!!
