windows nt 4.0 Soundmax analog device

It seems I have all the necessary soundmax audio files on my PC, but yet I can't seem to get the payback mode to work. I can't the  Sound max option under Multimedia controls under Control panel.  The payback field is greyed out.  Other Pcs on the network would have in that field under the multimedia options "soundmax " payback. I have other SoundMax audio properties but not this one.

Of course, I can't get any volume controls etc to listen to music or sounds. etc.  How do I get a Soundmax audio mixer and/or  then enable it in  Nt 4.0 environment??
