Hi, I have a wyse terminal that is configured via a config file on an FTP server. Does anyone know of a way to add shortcut icons to the desktop?

Take a look at the INI reference guide available at www.wyse.com/manuals. You can add the icon graphic files to the "Bitmap" directory and use the option icon= in the connect= section.
