Philips Speechmike Pro 3 - Invisible mouse pointer issue

Philips Speechmike Pro 3 - Invisible mouse pointer issue

Hi all,

We're currently testing:

Wyse ThinOS Beta 8 / D10D
Windows 7 VDI
Xendesktop 5.6

We're having issues with the Philips Speechmike Pro 3 USB device, needed for Bighand digital dictation. The device has a built in rollerball mouse which isn't working properly within the VDI.

You can control the mouse however the pointer remains static on-screen. So you can 'guess' your way around and launch apps etc. Has anyone seen this before?

The other functions of the device do however work: audio playback/mic and the 6 button set used to navigate back and forth through dictations are all working fine.

I've tried ForceRedirecting the device both locally and remotely - No joy.

We need this HID to work alongside a standard USB mouse.

Any advice appreciated.

Matt

I tested with the USB device “Philips Speechmike Pro 3”, its mouse pointer works fine when the device is not redirected to Windows 7 side in VDI mode.
Would you please check the below:
1. Does the Speechmike mouse pointer works on WTOS local side?
2. Does the Speechmike mouse pointer stop working as soon as connecting to VDI Windows 7 VM, when it is not redirected?
3. Does the Speechmike mouse pointer stop working as soon as connecting to VDI Windows 7 VM, when it is redirected?
4. Does the Speechmike mouse pointer works on XenDesktop session without any problem?

Thanks for the response,

1. Yes. The pointer works fine on the WTOS local device before connecting to a VM.
2. When connecting to the Windows 7 VM the Speechmike pointer works for about 10 seconds, then it freezes. Windows is still configuring my desktop at this point.
3. Same as 2. In fact the behavior is the same whether redirected (remote/local I've tried both), or not force redirecting at all.
4. Yes. From a desktop PC to the same VDI the Speechmike pointer works fine.

We are also in VDI mode.

Thanks for your help.

Some progress made on this:

We've managed to get the Speechmike device mouse pointer working an Rx0L running OS revision 7.1_130. The pointer does not work however on an Rx0L running Beta OS 8.0_031, nor on the Dx0D running 8.0_031.

Changes made to get the Speechmike working on 7.1_130:

HDX policy / Users / USB Devices

Client USB device redirection = Allowed
Client USB device redirection rules = Allow: vid=0911 pid=0c1c

Change to the VDI Windows registry

Created key: HKLM\Software\Policies\Citrix\ICA_Client
Added REG_MULTI_SZ with value: allow: vid=0911 pid=0c1c

Any advice on how we can get this working on OS 8.0_031 appreciated.

neither dev nor QA can reproduce the issue.
i also tried, i did not change anything, just plugged in the device, the mouse worked well for me

could you send the device pic to me to confirm if we have the exactly same devices? (llu@wyse.com)
